If you could look like anything...anything at all....what would you look like? I'd be the wind. ...........It's easy to be someone's friend when all you need is someone to console you. It's much harder to be there for them when they're happy all the time. .............Even when I say nothing, it's a beautiful use of negative space.

take you home
There's something about the minds of children that will always amaze me. I want to go back to that age, younger than 5 definitely, only for a short period of time so I can remember how they think, and how they make associations. I hope my siblings have children soon so I can spend time with them, watching them light up a room with merely their presence. Have them show me their world, a little bit, and have a chance to be the fun aunt. People are so mesmerized by littler versions of themselves.

Over the weekend, I went to the baptism of my cousin's youngest child. She has three boys: a four year old, a two year old, and a two week old. I haven't seen this cousin in about a month, when she was still pregnant and invited the family over for dinner. I stayed with the adults, while the children ran around the house showing off their various toys to whoever would listen.

Upon walking into the church, though, the four year old's face lit up in recognition, took me by the hand, and led me around the room introducing me to the people in his life. I was touched by the spark of friendship, and was amazed that he remembered who I am. After all, we really only see each other maybe twice a year at best. Then I noticed what he was saying. "McKenzie, come here, look at this," as he pulled at my hand. In not wanting to break the mood, I never corrected him. I asked around later, and McKenzie isn't someone in the family. I still have no idea who he thought I was, but, really, I'm not complaining.
