remember that conversation we had about love?
Things I Will Always Hate About Summers Working at Booklog:
1. There is a corner on my morning commute, where the fancy mediterranian resturaunt lies across the street from the Persian gift shop and kiddie-corner from a Starbucks. This intersection, unlike any other on this busy street in North Chicago, is a 4-way stop sign, which apparently no one pays attention to besides pedestrians. Cars stop out of courtesy, but not obligation, which is apparent when no one looks either way before pounding on the gas. Which, more often than not, results in my almost getting run over. Almost mockingly, my favorite coffee shop is also located on this corner, so I am left constantly weighing my need for caffine in the morning against my will to not get hit by a car. Everyday, caffine wins.
2. On my key ring, there is a little red tab with the label "North Tower" accompanied by two keys. Whenever I see it, I think about how strangers would read that and think that my office is located in a castle, where there are indeed towers and one of them is bound to face North. This is not, in fact, the case, as I simply work in a 2 bedroom apartment above a liquor store on the North side of the street. The door, however, is made of metal and glass, and subsequently expands on humid days, which results in a noise so high-pitched and annoying that it almost makes me want to call in sick on exceptionall warm days. Sadly, I cannot afford to do that, and my eardrums curse me for it every morning.
