If you could look like anything...anything at all....what would you look like? I'd be the wind. ...........It's easy to be someone's friend when all you need is someone to console you. It's much harder to be there for them when they're happy all the time. .............Even when I say nothing, it's a beautiful use of negative space.

to finally hold your hand
I'm upset but not surprised about the Prop 8 vote on Tuesday. It's a terrible idea, but the way the lawsuit was brought about and trying to get it overturned by a technicality - the scope of the definition - was a fairly weak way to go about it in the first place. I wish all the protesters in California good luck in getting their opposing legislature through. Here, for your pleasure, is my favorite passage in the NY Times article's coverage:

Karl M. Manheim, a professor at Loyola Law School Los Angeles who had filed a brief with the court opposing Proposition 8, called the decision a “safe” one from justices who can be recalled by voters. The change wrought by Proposition 8 was anything but narrow, Professor Manheim said, and claiming that the word “marriage” is essentially symbolic is like telling black people that sitting in the back of the bus is not important as long as the front and the back of the bus arrive at the same time.
